We are facing changing and challenging times in the Health Sector for 2010. The key message we have found in our client market is “show us quality candidates”!
There are numerous reasons for this quality drive, which can be attributed to the economic climate and the tightening or refocusing of salary spend and maximising of productivity.
Latest figures from the Australian Bureau of statistics, has seen a decrease in the unemployment rate to 5.3%. This can mainly be attributed to the decrease in part-time employment and the increase towards full-time roles.
In our own statistics taken from positions advertised in the last quarter we have found a decrease in the amount of roles we have advertised, however we have seen a 10% increase in the intake of quality candidates into our data-base.
This shows us that the Health Sector is in a state of refocusing and clearly from most conversations we are having across both Clinical and Sales and Marketing segments, there is a drive for quality candidates that can increase productivity and efficiency of business units, thereby supporting a clear reduction in peripheral spending adding impetus in driving down the bottom line and supporting service standards.
What would this mean for you, our client, for 2010?
Finding the right candidate to support your business/ departments outcomes is the key to your overall success. Waiting to move on the right candidate in this market could mean you miss out on quality, as your competitors have engaged your prospective employee faster than you have. Don’t hesitate when you find the right candidate, as candidates are on the move in 2010 and will be looking for organisations that act fast and engage them in a way that shows value and urgency.
In this climate clients are acting fast, to either create roles for quality candidates that will add value to their organisation, or are shortening the recruitment window to act when they find good candidates.
The message is clear; quality candidates are available in the market for 2010. They are applying for roles as they feel more confident in the economy stabilising. It’s up to prospective employers to take the opportunity, with quality candidates in the market, to secure the best people for their business’ to drive their own productivity and thereby achieve clear bottom line results.
