During 2012 Frontline Health grew by 27%. The brand is now established in the health sector which is recognised in both Australia and New Zealand as one of the most challenging industries in which to source talent.
With this challenge in mind, Frontline Health is now focused on achieving a dominant brand presence so that it is able to consistently source high quality candidates for our clients.
In 2012 Frontline Health operated 5 health only specialist recruitment agencies across Australia and New Zealand (see back page for office locations and contact details). There are approximately 15 specialist health recruiters working across these agencies.
In mid 2011 the healthcare sector overtook the retail sector in Australia as the largest employer. In Australia it now employs over 1,363,500 people, which is almost 12% of the employed population (ABS August 2012). The sector is undergoing rapid employment growth, and over the five years to August 2012 employment in the healthcare industry rose by 25%.
The healthcare sector in New Zealand is not growing as aggressively as it is in Australia; in 2010 the sector employed 189,000 people, making it the second largest (behind retail) employment sector in New Zealand (New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment).
This employment growth in healthcare in both Australia and New Zealand now presents considerable challenges to those clients who are looking to employ skilled healthcare workers. Over the next ten years this shortage of skilled workers will become more acute and Frontline Health is focused on helping clients meet this challenge. Building a large talent pool is a key ingredient to addressing this challenge and this is a key focus of Frontline Health.
During 2012, Frontline Health posted 2,472 ads on the major job boards – Seek, MyCareer, TradeMe and CareerOne – and, assisted by the syndication of these ads to multiple sites on the internet, processed more than 22,000 candidate applications. Resulting from these applications, more than 2,100 face-to-face interviews were conducted, increasing Frontline Health’s talent database of interviewed candidates to over 11,000.
In 2012, 283 different clients listed almost 1,500 roles with Frontline Health and subsequently Frontline Health placed candidates in 116 different healthcare roles. The most common roles were; Nurses, Deputy/Directors of Nursing, Facility Managers, Sales Representatives, Territory Managers and Clinical Managers (see page 11 for a complete listing of roles placed).
In 2012 Frontline Health’s clients were formally presented with over 2,900 candidates and after consultation with our clients over 1,400 were interviewed and 255 were placed. The value of the Frontline Health database as a talent sourcing pool for our clients is illustrated by the fact that 71% of the Frontline Health candidates who were placed in roles in 2012 were already on the Frontline database. This is a clear indication that after trading for 6 years Frontline Health is building a strong relevant candidate sourcing channel.
As job roles in the health industry are often based around specific skill sets, ongoing refinements to the candidate application process and improved searching capabilities within the Frontline database are necessary. We continue making these improvements to ensure that we are able to help our consultant’s source and match the best available talent for our clients.
